Note: From late fall to early spring, the Bow Valley Parkway is closed to vehicle traffic between Banff and Johnston Canyon to protect local wildlife and for seasonal maintenance. During these times, you must access the lodge from Castle Junction (via Highway 1), which adds approximately 15–20 minutes to your trip.
In summer, take the scenic Bow Valley Parkway (1A) directly to Johnston Canyon.
In winter, take Highway 1 west to Castle Junction, then follow signs to rejoin the 1A eastbound toward Johnston Canyon.
Head east on Highway 1, exit at Castle Junction, and turn onto 1A east to reach the canyon.
